Why Business Days?

Why Not Just Count Calendar Days?

Contracts, SLAs, shipping estimates, and payroll processing are almost always specified in business days, not calendar days — "5 business days" quietly becomes 7 calendar days whenever a weekend falls in between. Miscounting this is a common source of missed deadlines.

This calculator handles that weekend-skipping arithmetic for you, in both directions: counting how many business days fall between two dates, or projecting forward from a start date by a given number of business days.

A business day is any day that isn't a Saturday or Sunday. This calculator counts or adds only Monday-through-Friday days, skipping weekends automatically.

Yes, optionally. Choose US Federal Holidays or UK Bank Holidays from the Holiday Calendar menu and they'll be excluded alongside weekends. Leave it set to "No Holidays" to exclude weekends only — results can change depending on which calendar you pick.

Switch to the "Add Business Days" mode, enter a start date and the number of business days to add (or click one of the presets: 3, 5, 7, 10, 15, 20, 30, or 45), and the calculator returns the resulting date, skipping weekends and any selected holidays. The "Day Range" mode answers questions like "3 to 5 business days from today" — enter a start date plus a minimum and maximum number of business days, and it returns both the earliest and latest possible result dates.

Set the Holiday Calendar to "UK Bank Holidays" in the calculator above, then use the "Between Two Dates" mode. UK bank holidays (New Year's Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday, the early May, spring, and summer bank holidays, Christmas Day, and Boxing Day) are excluded automatically, including their weekend substitute days.
